The more you interact with local people in the area – teachers or children – the more enriching your experience will be. We have some activities or suggestions ready to make you feel less lost. However, you will always have a contact person to guide you throughout your stay. It’s important that you also think about what you could contribute and prepare a little bit of what you want to do there before stating your volunteering. We will always give you ideas, songs activities to do, but it is important you have initiative. The classes have their schedule and you will prepare together with the teachers at what times you can do your intervention in the classes and what activities you want to do. That is, we like that you feel at home and free to propose any activity or workshop that you want to do. We like to improve, all the areas of improvement that you detect, please tell us. What tasks does a volunteers have ?
CLASSES
▪︎ Support in English, math , geography, craft and sport classes.
▪︎ Support during the break collaborating with the distribution of food.
▪︎ Creation of workshops with children, teachers or with a group of local women.
NURSERY
▪︎ The school has the first aid nursery, where you can heal children in need, do first aid workshop, check sanitary supplies and their expirations, and list missing materials.
▪︎ Hand hygiene and oral hygiene workshop.
ECOLOGY
▪︎ We promote recycling and do plastic collection campaigns to make toys for children.
▪︎ Organisation of new material in the plant, inventory, management...
CREATIVITY
▪︎ Sport activities : in the countryside or on the water.
▪︎ Classroom decoration and painting.

As mentioned above, we collaborate with three other projects where volunteers, if they want , can participate : Umbuji ( 90 children) / Kibele(94 children) / Guruweni Nursery school.
Remenber that we like volunteers to feel at home, so they are free to propose activities or workshop anf their participation in classes is totally voluntary.

Volunteers Informations
SCHEDULES , LOGISTICS and OTHERS
Chlidren are in school from 8:00 to 12:00h.
However, when children leave you can stay in the school helping the organization opr doing workshop with teachers; The rest of the time is yours, so you can enjoy the island. We will give you local recommendations on the following pages. The school clesed in December, but you can do other workshop/talks with local person. During the year there are dates when the school is also closed for few days.The school is located in the center of the village, 10 minutes walk from the house and 20 minutes from the beach.
How much does volunteering costs ? How long are you available ?
Price : 25$ or 21€ approx /night. Please note that a prior deposit will be made for the reservation of the room via Paypal or bank transfer. The rest of the payment will be made in Dollars or local currency on the day of arrival.No refunds are allowed after booking or payment of the stay.
What is included in the price ?
Accommodation : We do not have our own house, so we rent double rooms in shared local house. However, the rooms are double and shared with same-ex volunteers unless they belong to the same group and xhat to share the room.
Maintenance : Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the price.The proprety has mosquito nets. Shower towels and sheets are included in the proprety.
Min and Max time : The minimum stay required is one week. However, all people who want to spend only the day with us or book other people’s accommodation are welcome.
